We at Nutrition for Life see 'miracles' every day!

There can be many reasons why people access our help and take that first step to consult with one of our expert team. Many of our clients have a chronic illness that is effecting their health, their family, their work life and if not managed in the best possible way, leads to severe health issues that may involve taking more medication to manage the illness, increasing hospital admissions and a snowballing of complications that may lead to an early death.

Though Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 and Type 2 are very different, their commonality is the inability for the body to process carbohydrates and both benefit from eliminating sugar and processed carbs.

Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disease that usually occurs in young people under the age of 30 though can occur at any age, while Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic health condition that with the right lifestyle choices, can be reversed.

If you had a nut allergy you would never eat a handful of nuts, would you? If you have diabetes, why would you eat something that your body has the inability to process!!! In a sense diabetes can be thought of an as allergy to sugar.

Here are a few humbling diabetes statistics…

120,000 - Approximate number of people with Type 1 Diabetes in Australia

1,000,000 - Hospitalisations associated with diabetes (principal and/or additional diagnosis) in 2014–15. This equates to 10% of all hospitalisations in Australia!

Diabetes is the leading cause of non-traumatic lower-limb amputations

We understand that processed carbs and sugars can be very addictive and some people find it very hard to reduce these foods if they form a large part of their diet and for many this does not happen overnight. We support them on their journey to better health by making sustainable dietary changes. Not all of our clients have diabetes but for those that do, they are given the tools to improve blood glucose levels to the non-diabetic range which in turn reduces their chances of diabetic complications such as kidney failure, amputation and blindness. There are many scientific studies (''see 3 below'') that are showing that what we have been talking about at Nutrition for Life for three years is saving lives!

Many GP's are telling their patients that Diabetes is a chronic progressive disease but our results at Nutrition for Life show otherwise. Wouldn't you love to prove your doctor wrong? Or are you one of the lucky ones who has a GP/specialist who understands the latest science knowing that food can be a very powerful healer? We now have over 120 GP's and Specialists who are referring their patients to us - How could they not when they are seeing the results first hand.
