Many people are unaware of just how simple it is to make your own homemade nut butters - free from refined oils, sugars, fillers and numbers! Nut butters should only contain nuts (nothing else is necessary).
Here is an example of sugar content in some of the common and sadly popular nut spread options (containing minimal nuts and bulked up with sugar, highly inflammatory oils and other fillers!)
Homemade nut butters are a great way to use up excess nuts that may start to go stale, and by making your own you know exactly what ingredients are in it! You can use any nuts in any combination that takes your fancy... The options are endless...
Making your own nut butter is as simple as grinding nuts in a powerful blender or food processor until the desired consistency is reached (depending on if you prefer smooth or crunchy nut butters).
Homemade nut butter can last up to several weeks stored in a jar in the fridge - or up to 5 months in the freezer!
*You can also add in extra flavours such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, vanilla bean, cocoa, coffee, coconut, salt, orange or lemon zest, chia seeds, pepitas, sunflower seeds.
